Girls at First Communion

The Sacrament of Reconciliation

Pupils who are making their First Holy Communion in Year 3 and above prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation with catechists from the parish. Our inclusive ethos ensures that those children who are not baptised Catholics are able to participate as fully as possible in supporting their classmates during the programme.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion

Pupils who are baptised Catholics receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time in Year 3. They are prepared for the sacrament by catechists from the parish. Preparation will generally begin in January.

Instead of the preparation taking place during lesson times during the school week, it will take place on Tuesday evenings 5:45pm to 6:45pm at St. Winefride's Catholic Church. Children must also attend mass on Saturday evening at 6pm or Sunday morning at 10am.

The children receive their First Holy Communion during the Summer term. This sacrament is widely celebrated by the entire school and parish community.
