What is Cymraeg Campus?

Cymraeg Campus is a language charter created by ERW Welsh in Education Officers and is the first charter specifically created to develop Welsh in English medium schools. St Winefride’s have decided to carry out Cymraeg Campus and improve the Welsh used in our school. 

 

Objectives of Cymraeg Campus:

• To promote and increase the use of Welsh used by the children in a whole school context. 

• To promote a strong Welsh ethos in St Winefride’s and provide a range of enriching activities that propel the children to enjoy learning Welsh. 

• To ensure every member of the school is involved in driving Cymraeg Campus forward. 

• To work towards and achieve the bronze award. To achieve this award we will follow challenging but attainable targets all linked with promoting the use of the Welsh language. 

 

Criw Cymraeg:

To help us achieve the bronze award we have the help of the ‘Criw Cymraeg.’ These children will lead the Welsh initiatives in school and work closely with Miss Rainford to identify the next steps and the progression made towards achieving the bronze award. We will have regular meetings to keep track of our progress and identify next steps together. The ‘Criw Cymraeg’ have representatives from each class and they were chosen by their fellow peers.
